Mental Health

Mental health problems are among the most important contributers to the global burden of disease and disability. Lifetime prevalence rates for any kind of psychological disorder are higher than previously thought, are increasing in recent studies, and affect nearly half the ppopulation. Research ahs shown that socially constructed differences between women and men in roles and responisbilities, status, and power, contribute to differences in the nature of mental health problems suffered, health seeking behaviour of those affected and responses of the health sector and society as a whole. This page provides links to mental health articles and resources on gender and mental health, maternal mental health, and mental health promotion.
