The Government will be giving City Mission a major increase in funding in order to increase the number of beds it has available for those detoxing from drugs and alcohol. Currently there are only 20 beds in total, in Auckland and the government’s one-off funding will add 10 more beds to bring the total to 30 and will build two floors of the new complex to house the beds.

“The $16.7 million funding will help the organisation expand with new drug and alcohol addiction treatment facilities. The funding will come from money recovered under the Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act.” – RadioNZ
