Come and enjoy a morning with others and be part of The Big Latch On 2024!
Doors open at 9.30am and at 10.00am we encourage the little ones to ‘Latch On’ and feed for 1 minute. The total number of latches (including express breast milk feeding) get added to the national total for 2024.
The Big Latch On is a public event open to all breastfeeding and express breast milk feeding mothers and babies, toddlers, or preschoolers. The aims of The Big Latch On are to:
✨be inclusive, welcoming, and supportive of all whānau regardless of how their child is fed.
✨support communities to identify and grow opportunities for on-going breastfeeding support and promotion.
✨connect whānau with support and knowledge available in their communities.
✨help communities positively support breastfeeding in public places.
✨connect parents with other parents and act as a conduit for the establishment of peer support groups (particularly in rural areas.
A fun, welcoming morning where you can feel relaxed breastfeeding in public and be part of protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding.
Enjoy morning tea and a hot / cold drink provided by Fahrenheit Restaurant & Bar plus fantastic spot prizes donated by businesses in our community as well as the opportunity to meet Te Awamutu’s La Leche League Leaders, Plunket Nurses and some of our local Midwives and Childbirth Educators.
