B4Baby Breastfeeding Service

Breast milk is specifically designed to meet pēpi’s nutritional needs, providing the right amount of nutrients in the proper proportions. It also contains protective factors, including antibodies and anti-inflammatory components. These protective factors support pēpi’s immune system, both in the short term by preventing illnesses and in the long term by reducing the risk of certain diseases. Breastfeeding also promotes emotional bonding between māmā and pēpi, positively influencing the duration of exclusive breastfeeding. By choosing to breastfeed, you are giving your pēpi the best possible start in life.

B4Baby is a kaupapa Māori breastfeeding service that has been offering education and support to māmā in South Auckland for over 20 years. Our team includes a Lactation Consultant and Breastfeeding Advocates and we pride ourselves on the delivery of culturally sensitive care and advice.

Enrol with B4Baby today, and one of our Breastfeeding Advocates will guide and support you throughout your breastfeeding journey. We arrange in-home visits at a convenient time for you and your whānau until pēpi is six months of age. Our Lactation Consultant provides expert advice to help you overcome challenges such as breast refusal, excessive crying and fussing, nipple pain, breast engorgement, low milk supply, and inadequate growth.

We also offer antenatal group education sessions on-site, empowering you with knowledge and face-to-face demonstrations to enhance your breastfeeding experience. These sessions are typically held on the first Monday of every month and provide an opportunity to connect with māmā going through similar experiences. We support and welcome postnatal breastfeeding peer support groups where our team can answer all your questions about breastfeeding and pēpi sleep challenges.

Our team understand the demands of providing a safe and warm whare for your whānau. We’ll equip you with any resources you need to optimise pēpi’s growth and development.

If you missed the opportunity to enrol during the antenatal period, you can self-refer for postnatal support.

All referrals, including non-Māori whānau are welcome!
